Youth musical theatre company expands into Gosport

Hampshire based Titchfield Festival Youth Theatre (TFYT) has announced an exciting new arts project: the launch of an innovative music and theatre programme for young people in the Gosport area.

In partnership with the Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust, the new initiative provides a fantastic opportunity for children to get involved in the arts and musical theatre. There will be a range of affordably priced classes, tailored to the needs of the different age groups, all provided by qualified and experienced teachers.

Stuart Hibbard, Director of Education & Learning at Titchfield Festival Theatre, which owns the youth charity said,

“The expansion of Titchfield Festival Youth Theatre is great news for the local community.

“Our theatre programme will offer superb opportunities for children in terms of developing skills in team working, gaining experience in the arts, having the chance to perform – and most importantly of all, to have fun.

“We strongly believe that the performing arts enables children and young people to grow, acquire greater confidence and learn new skills. The new programme follows the key stages of children’s learning; so that all those participating in the classes will work on theatre scripts and project tasks appropriate to their age group. Furthermore, we do understand that for many people, budgets are extremely tight; therefore the classes will be affordably priced – equivalent to £4 per hour.”

The Titchfield Festival Youth Theatre programme starts on Monday 12 September 2022, with classes held at Brune Park School in Gosport. There will be three categories of classes:

  • Infant group: 4 – 8 years old
  • Juniors group: 8 – 11 years old
  • Seniors: 11 – 14 years.
  • Anyone joining at aged 14 can join the Youth Associates programme.

Parents can register their children online here.

All teachers and support staff involved in the programme are DBS checked. Stuart Hibbard is one of only three registered teachers of LAMDA in Hampshire, the UK’s oldest specialist drama school. LAMDA is an exam board that trains in all aspects of drama/ musical theatre/ public speaking etc., providing fabulous training available to all – particularly young people as they can gain qualifications for university.
