You are the jury for TFT’s forthcoming play
TFT is proud to announce the UK debut of Carolyn Gage’s provocative and timely play, The Anastasia Trials in the Court of Women. This compelling production promises to challenge perceptions and ignite crucial conversations about history, gender, and justice.
Engrossing, controversial courtroom drama, where the audience must serve as judge and jury, deciding motions and verdict, in a case against the five women who betrayed the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov, the last surviving daughter of the Tsar of Russia. This farce is not to be missed.
Julie Daly is director of The Anastasia Trials in the Court of Women:
“I was immediately drawn to Carolyn Gage’s script because it’s fearless. The Anastasia Trials is not only sharply written and wickedly funny - but it also questions how society handles women’s stories, especially those involving trauma, power, and resistance. TFT has the integrity and community engagement to support the kind of conversation this play demands.
“The challenge was balancing historical accuracy with the play's dramatic and self-aware elements. It's not about finding a single answer but exploring the grey areas of anger and truth.”
Finally, Julie promises that the play will not be a passive experience. “It's an interactive, engaging mix of drama, political experiment, and theatre from a female perspective. Whether you laugh, squirm, or argue on the way home, you’ll be part of something vital.”
Recommended for audiences aged 14+.
