Red Riding Hood: Titchfield Festival Theatre’s Original Pantomime

Simon Frost • October 30, 2023

See the classic fairy tale like you’ve never seen it before, reimagined with a twist or two ....

Red Riding Hood is this year’s Titchfield Festival Theatre original pantomime in a brand new adaptation by director Sassy Harvey, working together with the same team that brought you The Nutcracker, Goose Girl and Sleeping Beauty.

As the Big Bad Wolf threatens the village of Boosemburg, Little Red and her Mum Widow Streaky set out to find missing Granny, with songs, laughter and all your favourite pantomime gags.

Sassy Harvey:

“I have always been fascinated by fairytales and the sheer use of imagination when telling these stories. The gruesome to the absurd, the fairytales are always a strong go-to for me and my playwriting. Red Riding Hood is a story that I’ve enjoyed sharing with my own son, especially as today there are a lot of versions that tell a less gruesome tale.

“For me it was all about the Big Bad Wolf, a character who features in so many other fairytale stories: The 3 Little Pigs, The Boy Who Cried Wolf and Peter and the Wolf. All of these tales have a common baddie. It was from this character that my imagination swirled with ideas on how a pantomime could be created with the characters all being part of the same story. Red Riding Hood is a great tale that everyone knows, but with the twists of adding in the other storylines and characters - it builds on the panto villain and the unity of defeating a baddie together.”

Come along to watch Red Riding Hood at Titchfield Festival Theatre this December. Enjoy the cheeky jokes, the colourful characters and sets as well as lots of Christmas cheer. Red Riding Hood will be a fun filled show for all ages – with plenty of audience participation! All this from as little as £10 a ticket!

Red Riding Hood performs from 15 - 23 December 2023 in the Arden Theatre, St Margarets Lane, Titchfield. For more information including booking tickets please go to http://titchfieldfestivaltheatre.com/ or contact our Box Office on 0333 666 3366.
